Diana Rangel (Caracas, 1987) Artist and Psychologist with psychoanalytic orientation. After finishing her studies at La Universidad Central de Venezuela, she studied contemporary photography at the International Center of Photography in New York and a postgraduate degree in Arts, Pedagogy and Social Transformation at The European Graduate School in Switzerland.
Her work focuses on investigating points of encounter between psychology, photography and narrative, her artistic practice addresses the relationship between the photographic image and the processes of subjective construction of the Other. In this way, her work ends up being a reflection around archives, testimonies and shared stories, assuming different roles and places of enunciation. In the photographic installation, the video and the publication, her research is materialized.
Recently she has published her first book of essays Voces de un lugar imposible which was awarded the First Prize for Essays on Therapeutic Applications of Art by the María José Jove Foundation in A Coruña, Spain. She was awarded the La Escocesa Scholarship for Research and Experimentation in Art (2018) where she developed the publication Políticas de la pedagogía en el arte – Politics of Art Pedagogy -, in the Valls Biennial she received the Guasch-Coranty Award (2017) with her photographic installation Alcatraz and in the Foto Colectania Foundation she was selected in the DocField photobook competition with her project Retornos that same year.
