Carlos Salazar-Lermont (Caracas, Venezuela, 1987) is an artist, curator and cultural manager with a focus on the performativity and post-conceptual strategies. He received a double Master’s degree in Arts Management and Policy and History of Modern and Contemporary Art from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) with the support of the New Artists Society grant. He also has a Bachelor of Arts in Sculpture from UNEARTE (2012), a Technical Bachelor of Arts in Drawing and Painting from the Escuela de Artes Visuales Cristóbal Rojas (2005).

In 2013 he was presented with an Honorable Mention at the XVI Salón Jóvenes con FIA and in 2014 with the Premio Salón Jóvenes con FIA 2.0 / 3. He also received an Honorable Mention for the curatorship of Desafío al Poder, part of the Los Andes International Biennial of Contemporary Art.

His work has been shown at various international events such as Experiencias de la Carne (Lima and Trujilo, Peru, 2015), Soap Box Sessions (London, UK, 2015), PAEkort # 14 (Rotterdam, Netherlands, 2014), Rapid Pulse International Performance Art Festival (Chicago, United States, 2013), TRAMPOLIM_platform do encontro with performance art (Vitoria, Brazil, 2011), NADAQUEVER (Argentina, 2011), HORASperdidas (Monterrey, Mexico, 2010) and Performar (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, 2009). Among the national events in which he has participated in Venezuela are ID performance, Encuentro de Arte Corporal, Velada de Santa Lucía, Fugaz: Performance Fair of Lara State, NOMASDECINCO, PerfoChoroní, and many others.

In 2014, Salazar-Lermont initiated the organization P3 Plataforma Para Performance, to promote creation, diffusion, research and education focused on Performance Art. In 2015 he created the Caracas International Performance Biennale. In SAIC he has been awarded the Student Leadership Award twice, the Enrichment Fund Grant and the Graduate Curatorial Fellowship.

Salazar-Lermont is currently pursuing a Master of Visual Arts degree from the Sam Fox School of Design and Arts at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.
