Franz Impler grew up in a small village in Bavaria. He moved to Leipzig to study illustration and graphic-design. During his studies he stepped into 3D animation.
His 90s-video-game and pop cultural influenced animations takes place in digital and artificial worlds. His work often deals with ambiguity, intricacy, absurdity and inner conflicts.
For his graduation project he made a short film called Out of Bounds. It’s about a video game character that is drifting out of his own game into an out-of-bounds world. It’s an abstract story about boundaries and rules, and also about the inner boundaries and rigidity in oneself. The film will be screened on a few festivals and then be published online at the end of 2020 or beginning of 2021.
